Introduction
In this article, we are gonna compare the two very similar phones and yet at the same time very different as well. They were Realme P4 Pro and newly launched Vivo T4 Pro. Now both these phones come with Snapdragon 7 Gen 4. They're extremely slim. They have very large batteries and more importantly they target the premium mid-range audience.
There are some fundamental changes to specs in the hardware as well as the software experience that completely tilts the favor in either one of these two phones.
Realme P4 Pro vs Vivo T4 Pro Design Comparison
Starting with the design, both these phones have a plastic build, but in no way do they feel cheap in the hand. They actually both Realme and Vivo have done a good job of ensuring that it feels premium.
Now, the reason why I'm saying the inhand feel is premium for both these phones is because they're extremely slim and yet pack really large batteries inside.
So, the Vivo T4 Pro is 7.53 mm thick and packs a 6,500 mAh battery inside and it's a silicon carbon battery.
In comparison, the Realme P4 Pro is about 7.68 mm thick and packs a larger 7,000 mAh battery inside.
Unfortunately, we don't know if it's actually silicon carbon or lithium ion. But yeah, extremely slim phones, extremely well-built phones as well.
But the one advantage with Vivo is that you get IP68 and IP69 certification which is only IP65 on the Realme P4 Pro. Now as for the glass protection, Corning color glass 7i on the display of the Realme whereas Vivo goes with short sensation core.
Now talking about the rest of the aspects of the phone, a type-C 2.0 port at the bottom which is standard for this price range. And stereo speakers which is great and then the power button, a volume rocker and both these phones also do come with infrared blasters.
So, overall when you look at the design and the build of the phones, the Realme has managed to keep it very slim despite packing in a larger battery than Vivo. But Vivo also comes with IP69 rating which is an advantage for it.
Realme P4 Pro vs Vivo T4 Pro Display Comparison
While comparing the displays on both these phones, Realme has slightly larger 6.8 in AMOLED display and 120 Hz refresh rate display with 1.5K resolution and the resolution is higher than the Vivo.
Vivo is a 6.77 in display with full HD plus resolution. It also an AMOLED panel and 120 Hz refresh rate. For the outdoors and indoors, Realme is definitely brighter than Vivo. both outdoors and indoors and that is also visible from the spec sheet itself because Realme has 1,800 nits of HBM brightness whereas Vivo has 1,500 nits in HDR mode. And we'll be get 6,000 NITS of peak brightness in HDR mode on Realme versus 5,500 NITS on Vivo.
But the difference in brightness is kind of negligible. The color accuracy actually put the Vivo in the professional color mode and the Realme in the you know natural color mode.
So what you can expect with the Realme's display is a bright and punchy display whereas with Vivo you get a more naturalistic tuning. Now one good thing with brands like Realme and Vivo is the fact that they do have very good PWM dimming rating across the range of phones that they produce whether it's a budget phone mid-range phone or even a premium flagship phone.
That's also true for the Realme P4 Pro and the Vivo T4 Pro. And the PWM dimming rating of the P4 Pro is actually higher than the T4 Pro. By the way, you get optical indisplay fingerprint scanners on both the phones, which is fine.
And the haptic feedback tuning is average on both. Now, one area where Realme comprehensively beats Vivo is in the audio performance. So, with the speakers itself, it sounds louder, it sounds richer.
The general audio performance is better on Realme because you do get support for Bluetooth codecs like LHDC and LDAC which Vivo doesn't offer by the way.
Realme P4 Pro vs Vivo T4 Pro Performance Comparison
The processor used for those two phones were Snapdragon 7 Gen 4. Now, that's the chip that powers both these phones, but Realme still has an advantage in performance because it's got UFS 3.1 storage as opposed to UFS 2.2 used by Vivo. So, what does this mean is that the app load times are generally faster on Realme and even the benchmark numbers are higher and therefore in Antutu Score, the Realme P4 Pro scores higher, but the CPU tuning has been done really well with the Vivo T4 Pro.
So, it takes the lead in Geekbench and even the throttle test performance seems to be better on the T4 Pro. So, it gave a better stability and higher average chips as well. In fact, the numbers are very close to each other if you look at it. Not just with the CPU, but also with the GPU.
A lot of which can be attributed to the margin of error as well. But in real world gaming, Realme seems to be doing better and that is more important for, you know, assessing performance.
Vivo also gets hotter than Realme. So game performance during seems to be better on Realme compared to Vivo. One of the reasons why Realme's gaming performance is good is because of the Hypervision AI chip with which you have like three different things that you can do. AI hyper motion, AI hyper clarity and AI always on HDR.
So basically like better HDR, upscaling of frame rates, all of those things.
Realme P4 Pro vs Vivo T4 Pro Battery Life
Now let's talk about the battery. With the Realme P4 Pro, we'll get a 7,000 mAh battery. So it's a larger battery and we're also noticing better screen on time on the P4 Pro compared to the T4 Pro. So which means that the battery life is better, but the charging speeds are slightly better on Vivo. Because what you get is a 90 watt charger inside the box and it charges the phone from 0 to 100% in about 59 minutes where Realme takes about 68 minutes.
So yeah, Realme does offer the larger battery and solid endurance as well. In fact, Vivo also does that, but Realme's endurance is better.
Realme P4 Pro vs Vivo T4 Pro Camera Comparison
Now to talk about the cameras, we have to take a look at the specs first because the hardware is completely different on both. There are different directions that Realme and Vivo have taken here and the Vivo's direction is a very interesting one and let me talk about that in depth.
So firstly with the Realme P4 Pro, what you get is a 50MP Sony IMX 896 sensor and you also get an 8 megapixel optimization ultra wideangle camera and a 50MP selfie camera. So that's the camera setup on the Realme.
Now with Vivo T4 Pro, what you get is the Sony IMX 882 for the primary camera and another Sony IMX 882 for a 3x telephoto camera. So what about the ultra wide? There is no ultra wide. There is actually a depth sensor instead. And at the front, It has a 32 megapixel selfie camera.
Realme P4 Pro vs Vivo T4 Pro Primary Camera Comparison
Using the primary camera, Realme's picture has slightly more details when compared to the T4 Pro shot. Anyway, the 896 is a more powerful sensor than the 882. In any case, the IMX 896 is a larger sensor compared to the 882. So, yeah. So, Realme seems to be doing better here.
And even at 2x, it's the same. Realme has more details compared to Vivo, but things change when you zoom in further to 3x, 6x, and 10x because Vivo has a proper 3x telephotos. And there for the zoom shots, anything beyond 3x actually looks better.
Now in terms of colors, Vivo's natural mode offers more true-to-life colors when compared to Realme's crisp color mode. So with Vivo you get three color modes, Vivid, Natural, and Textured.
And with Realme, what we'll get is, a vibrant color mode and a crisp color mode. And with the crisp color mode, what Realme is trying to say is that they're actually trying to shoot natural looking colors.
Now in our HDR samples, both do a good job. There is actually nothing separating the two. I actually like both. But when it comes to shooting portraits, Vivo clearly takes the lead because you can shoot at four different focal lengths, and the semantic segmentation seems to be better here.
Now, low light using the primary camera are more or less similar. Both do a good job if you ask me. Now, one advantage that Realme has over Vivo is the proper ultra wideangle lens. So, shooting landscapes or wider images won't be a problem when it comes to Realme. But remember that it's an 8 megapixel ultra wide.
Realme P4 Pro vs Vivo T4 Pro Selfie Camera Comparison
When comes to selfies, Realme simply shoots better selfies. Whether it is in terms of the details in regular selfies or in the HDR tuning or in portrait selfies or even in low light. Realme does have an upper hand over Vivo. Vivo is not bad, Realme beats it.
Now talking about video quality here, Realme has an immediate advantage that is it can shoot 4K 60 fps videos with the primary as opposed to 4K 30 fps on Vivo. But which is better? Well, clearly Realme is better whether it's a detail or the audio quality is better than Vivo here.
Realme also has an advantage that it can shoot videos using the ultra wide since it is an ultra wideangle lens even if it's in 1080p 30 fps. But with the Vivo, if you want to shoot at 3x with the 3x telephoto camera, you can do that and it can do it at 4K 30 fps.
Now, in terms of selfie videos, I think Realme does a better job with 4K 60 fps video recording over 4K 30 fps on Vivo. And the quality is also better.
both the phones have their own strengths and weaknesses when it comes to camera performance. So, Vivo clearly takes the lead when it comes to multiple focal lengths with the portrait shots or even with a dedicated 3x telephoto camera. So, if you want to do zoom in the mid-range, then the Vivo T4 Pro is a very good option.
But the Realme P4 Pro offers better details with the primary camera. It also offers selfies that look better than Vivo selfies. And more importantly, you can record 4K 60 fps videos with the primary and the selfie camera. For video recording, if that is a priority and of course you want a very good primary camera performance, then the Realme would be the one to choose.
Realme P4 Pro vs Vivo T4 Pro Software Experience
Now time to talk about the software experience. With Realme, you get Realme UI based on Android 15. And Realme is promising 3 plus 4 years of updates. Whereas with the Vivo, what you get is Fun Touch OS 15 based on Android 15. And Vivo is promising 4 plus 6 years of updates, which is really good, especially for a, you know, super mid-range phone.
Realme UI experience is better over the Fun Touch OS experience. because, we'll get parallel animations. It's smoother. Secondly, you do get more modern UI features like you know Flux themes and live activities. All of those things which are missing in Vivo. And finally, you do get way more AI features. There's AI eraser, AI reflection eraser, AI ultra clarity, AI edit genie, which actually works with voice commands by the way. There's AI notes and AI smart loop.
A few of these AI features are also present on Vivo, but the stack is higher on Realme. And both these phones also do support circle to search and Gemini.
But yeah, if I have to pick one software experience between both these phones, Realme wins for me.
Conclusion
Now, you would have noticed that these are very similar phones in terms of the hardware and the kind of offering that they're giving except for certain interesting changes that they've done.
For example: With Vivo, you do not get UFS 3.1 and instead of the ultra wideangle camera, you have a 3x telephoto camera.
Now, I know that a lot of people will care about the telephoto and they are willing to spend extra for it. Because yes, if you do buy the Vivo, then you have to pay 3,000 more compared to the Realme P4 Pro.
And therefore, Realme P4 Pro seems more value for money to me. And if you can compromise on the telephoto camera, especially with the P4 Pro, you do get better performance, you do get a better software experience, and the overall experience in general seems to be better to me.
